Three Layers of Mastery

StatisticsAPex mirrors how expert statisticians think — from broad conceptual fluency down to precise procedural control.

🧠
Layer 1

Macro-Skills

30 cross-cutting conceptual skills that appear on every AP free-response, regardless of unit. Interpreting p-values, distinguishing association from causation, validating inference conditions, understanding power — these ideas are tested implicitly in almost every question.

Each skill includes a full explanation, common pitfall, hand-authored exercises, and 10 extra-practice problems.

📘
Layer 2

Micro-Skills

All 9 AP Statistics units broken into 60+ targeted micro-skills. Each one covers the exact procedure, conditions, and formula you need — plus an exam tip that explains how AP readers distinguish a 3-point from a 4-point response.

Structured to reward gradual, unit-by-unit mastery with 5 extra practice problems per skill.

Layer 3

Case Studies

50 boss-level integration problems that combine macro conceptual insight with micro procedural skill — exactly what the AP exam's hardest free-response items demand. Each problem includes a crossover point explaining why it fools even prepared students.

Progressive step disclosure forces genuine reasoning, not passive solution reading.

50 case studies · multi-unit

Built for Serious Exam Prep

Every feature is designed around one goal: understanding deeply enough to write a full-credit free-response answer under pressure.

🎯

Distractor Feedback

When you choose a wrong answer that matches a known misconception, you get targeted feedback explaining exactly why that reasoning fails.

📊

Progress Tracking

Circular progress rings on every skill card. See your mastery grow problem by problem, skill by skill, across all three layers.

🔢

Smart Answer Evaluation

Numeric answers are graded with appropriate tolerance. Supports scientific notation, Unicode math symbols, and common answer aliases.

📋

Exam Tips Per Skill

Every micro-skill includes a specific tip from the AP scoring rubric — what separates partial credit from full credit, in plain language.

🔍

Common Pitfalls

Each macro-skill explanation includes the exact wrong move that mid-range students make — described clearly so you recognize and avoid it.

Progressive Case Study Reveal

Case study steps unlock one at a time, forcing genuine analytical thinking before you see the next move — not passive solution reading.

A System That Builds Real Mastery

Don't just practice — practice deliberately. Here's how to use StatisticsAPex to reach top performance.

01

Start with Macro-Skills

Begin every study session with at least one Macro-Skill. Read the explanation and common pitfall before attempting any problems. These cross-cutting concepts underpin every unit — building them first accelerates everything else.

02

Drill Micro-Skills Unit by Unit

Work through the nine units with the Micro-Skills tab. Focus extra time on Units 4–7 and 9, which together account for ~65% of exam content. For each inference skill, aim to state conditions from memory in context — not from a formula sheet.

03

Face the Case Studies

Use Case Studies as weekly diagnostic challenges. Read the full problem, form your own answer, then reveal steps one at a time. Pay special attention to the crossover point — it tells you exactly why this class of problem trips up prepared students.

04

Learn from Every Wrong Answer

When you get a distractor feedback sheet, don't skip it. That feedback describes the specific misconception you just revealed. Understanding why the wrong answer felt right is more valuable than getting the right answer.

05

Connect Everything

Strong AP Statistics performance comes from seeing how it all connects: how the CLT underpins inference, how p-value interpretation reappears across tests, and how design choices set the scope of conclusions. StatisticsAPex is built to help you practice those connections.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know before downloading.

What grade level is this app for?
StatisticsAPex is designed for students taking AP Statistics in high school, typically in grades 10–12. It is also useful for college students in introductory statistics courses, and for anyone preparing for standardized tests or professional exams that include statistical reasoning.
Does it cover the full AP Statistics curriculum?
Yes. All nine College Board AP Statistics units are covered through the Micro-Skills tab: exploring one-variable and two-variable data, collecting data, probability and random variables, sampling distributions, inference for proportions and means, inference for two populations, chi-square tests, and inference for linear regression. The 30 Macro-Skills are cross-unit concepts that appear throughout the course.
Is this app affiliated with the College Board?
No. StatisticsAPex is an independent educational app. AP® and AP Statistics® are registered trademarks of the College Board, which is not affiliated with, and does not endorse, this product.
What does the one-time purchase include?
The $39.99 premium purchase unlocks all 30 Macro-Skills, all 9 unit Micro-Skill tracks, all 50 Case Study analyses, and all associated extra practice problems (560+ total). It is a non-consumable in-app purchase — you pay once and own it permanently, including all future content updates.
Can I restore my purchase if I get a new phone?
Yes. Open StatisticsAPex, go to Settings (gear icon), and tap "Restore Purchases." Your premium access will be restored as long as you are signed in to the same Apple ID that made the original purchase.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. All content — skills, exercises, case studies, and practice problems — is stored locally on your device after download. An internet connection is only required for the initial App Store purchase and to restore purchases.
What devices does it support?
StatisticsAPex supports iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later. The interface is optimized for iPhone but works on all iPad sizes. Dynamic Type and VoiceOver accessibility features are supported.
How is this different from just doing past AP exam questions?
Past AP questions are excellent, but they don't explain why wrong answers are wrong. StatisticsAPex includes distractor feedback tied to specific misconceptions, structured concept explanations, and case studies with crossover points that reveal the exact reasoning traps built into hard AP questions. It's diagnostic practice, not just exposure.
