Use the Sampling workspace to estimate lateral resolution and recommended Nyquist pixel size. Review status indicators to catch under- or over-sampling quickly.
Use the Z-Stack workspace to estimate axial sampling, select Nyquist or custom Z-step, and project total slices from thickness and margin.
All calculations update instantly as values change. No account is required.

App Purpose
ConfocalAlly provides estimation and planning tools for confocal fluorescence microscopy (for example, XY Nyquist sampling, Z-step guidance, and Z-stack planning).
ConfocalAlly is a planning aid and does not replace laboratory SOPs, institutional requirements, instrument documentation, or expert judgment.
License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use ConfocalAlly for lawful internal use.
You may not:
- Reverse engineer the app except where legally permitted
- Use the app in violation of applicable law
- Remove ownership notices
User Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Verifying all inputs and outputs before use
- Confirming acquisition settings on your specific instrument
- Ensuring compliance with your institution’s policies and regulations
No Medical or Clinical Use
ConfocalAlly is not medical software and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Do not use it as the sole basis for clinical or patient-care decisions.
No Warranty
ConfocalAlly is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and merchantability.
We do not warrant uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate operation.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, research time, profits, or goodwill arising from use of the app.
Your use of ConfocalAlly is at your own risk.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the app provider from claims arising from your misuse of the app or violation of these Terms.
Updates and Changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue app features at any time.
We may update these Terms and will revise the “Last updated” date.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Caliifornia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Overview
ConfocalAlly is a local-first iOS app for confocal microscopy planning. We designed it to operate without account creation, cloud sync, or mandatory network services.
Data We Collect
ConfocalAlly does not intentionally collect personal data such as your name, email address, phone number, or government identifiers.
The app stores only the planning information needed for functionality, including:
- Objective presets
- Channel presets
- Input values used in calculations
This data is stored locally on your device using Apple SwiftData.
How Data Is Used
Local data is used only to:
- Populate preset lists
- Persist your app configuration between launches
- Generate local plan exports (text and CSV)
Data Sharing
ConfocalAlly does not sell personal data.
ConfocalAlly does not transmit your local preset data to our servers because no backend account or sync service is included in v1.
If you choose to export and share a plan through iOS share features, sharing is controlled by you and the destination you select.
Third-Party Services
ConfocalAlly does not include third-party analytics, ad SDKs, or tracking SDKs in v1.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your app data remains on your device until you:
- Delete specific values inside the app, or
- Delete the app from your device
Deleting the app removes its local app container data according to iOS behavior.
Children
ConfocalAlly is intended for professional and research workflows. It is not directed to children under 13.
Security
We rely on iOS platform security and app sandboxing for local data protection. No software can guarantee absolute security.
International Users
Data handling is local to your device unless you explicitly export and share data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy over time. We will update the “Last updated” date when changes are made.

Scientific and Technical Disclaimer
ConfocalAlly calculations are based on simplified optical approximations and user-provided inputs. Real-world performance can differ due to instrument configuration, pinhole settings, detector properties, refractive index mismatch, sample properties, aberrations, and other experimental factors.
Always validate settings against measured system behavior.
Not a Regulatory Device
ConfocalAlly is not FDA-cleared, CE-marked as a medical device, or otherwise approved for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
Professional Judgment Required
Output values are guidance only and must not be treated as guaranteed optimal settings. Final imaging parameters must be selected by qualified personnel.
Data Export Disclaimer
Text and CSV exports reflect the values present in the app at the time of export. You are responsible for version control, traceability, and record retention in your environment.
Availability Disclaimer
Feature availability may change across app versions. Screenshots and marketing text may depict representative workflows.
Liability Disclaimer
Use of ConfocalAlly is at your own risk. The app provider is not responsible for losses arising from incorrect settings, failed experiments, or downstream interpretation based on app outputs.
