No account. No analytics. No ads. Core learning features work offline. We do not collect or receive your practice data.
1. Who This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the PatternMath iOS application ("App"), including students of all ages. We have written this policy to be readable for students, parents, and guardians, including families with children under 13.
2. Information We Collect
2a. Information You Provide
PatternMath does not ask for, collect, or store personally identifiable information. Specifically:
- No name, email address, or contact information is collected by the App.
- No account or login is required.
- No age or grade level is verified or stored.
- No payment card or billing information is collected by us. If you choose to make an in-app purchase, Apple processes that transaction under Apple's own terms and privacy policy.
2b. App Usage Data Stored Locally
PatternMath stores the following data on your device only, using Apple's standard local storage mechanisms such as SwiftData and AppStorage:
- Skill mastery level (0-3 per skill)
- Practice streak count
- Date of last practice session
- IDs of recently viewed patterns
- Selected contest track (AMC 8, AMC 10, or AMC 12)
- Whether you dismissed the intro card
We do not collect, receive, or synchronize this progress data to our own servers.
2c. Information We Do Not Collect
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No advertising identifiers
- No third-party crash reporting configured by us
- No location data
- No camera or microphone access
- No contacts or calendar access
- No cloud profile or account
Core learning content works offline. If you choose to purchase or restore access through Apple's StoreKit system, Apple-managed network activity may occur as part of that transaction.
3. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
PatternMath is designed for students preparing for AMC-style math competitions, including children under 13.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
- We do not require registration, login, or personal information to use the App.
- We do not serve advertising.
- We do not include social features or user-generated public profiles.
Because PatternMath does not collect personal information from users, we do not request parental consent for app usage. If a user chooses to make an in-app purchase, that transaction is handled by Apple, not by us.
4. Data Storage and Security
All data generated by your use of PatternMath is stored in on-device locations managed by iOS. Apple may encrypt app data containers on supported devices when the device is locked. PatternMath does not add a separate custom encryption layer beyond Apple's platform protections.
PatternMath does not operate its own user-data server. Apple-managed services used for App Store distribution, purchase processing, or purchase restoration are governed by Apple.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or disclose personal information because we do not collect personal information.
The App does not integrate with advertising networks, third-party analytics platforms, social networks, cloud sync services operated by us, or external educational APIs.
The App may interact with Apple services for App Store distribution and optional in-app purchase flows. Those services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
6. Data Export
PatternMath includes an optional Export Progress feature in Settings. If you use this feature:
- A JSON file is created on your device containing mastery and progress data for the selected contest track.
- No personal information is included in the exported file.
- You decide whether to keep the file locally or share it through Files, AirDrop, Mail, or another destination you choose.
- We do not receive a copy of the exported file.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Your progress data remains on your device until you reset progress in Settings, delete an exported file, or uninstall the App.
There is no account to delete and no server-side profile to remove with us.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Because PatternMath does not collect personal information, many privacy-right requests do not apply in the usual server-account sense. Still:
- Access: your progress is visible in the App
- Deletion: reset progress or uninstall the App
- Portability: export your progress as JSON
- Correction: continue practicing or reset your progress

9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, when appropriate, include the change in an app update.
