1. Agreement to These Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the PatternMath iOS application ("App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed these Terms with you or has permitted your use of the App.
2. License to Use the App
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, J.T. Scientific grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control for personal, non-commercial, educational use.
This license does not permit you to:
- Use the App for commercial tutoring, resale, or a paid test-prep service
- Copy, republish, or distribute the App or its content
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except where law clearly permits it
- Remove or alter proprietary notices
- Use the App content to train machine-learning models without written permission
The App is licensed, not sold. J.T. Scientific retains all rights not expressly granted.
3. Apple Distribution
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store. Your use of the App is also subject to Apple's App Store Terms and Conditions. These Terms are between you and J.T. Scientific, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for the App.
4. Intellectual Property
4a. App Content
The App's code, design, educational text, pattern explanations, problems, solutions, and related materials are owned by J.T. Scientific or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property law.
4b. Practice Problems
The practice problems in PatternMath are original educational problems created for this App. They are not official AMC, AIME, or MAA competition problems.
4c. Trademarks
PatternMath and related branding are trademarks or trade dress of J.T. Scientific. Third-party marks are acknowledged in Section 6.
5. Educational Content and Accuracy
5a. Nature of Content
PatternMath provides educational content for practice in recognizing AMC-style mathematical structures and problem-solving approaches.
5b. No Guarantee of Accuracy
We work to keep the math content accurate, but we do not guarantee that every problem, explanation, or formula is error-free. If you find an issue, email jtscientific2016@gmail.com.
5c. No Guaranteed Results
PatternMath is a study aid, not a guarantee of contest performance, score improvement, or qualification for any competition.
6. AMC and MAA Trademark Disclaimer
AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, and AIME are trademarks of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
PatternMath is an independent study app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to the Mathematical Association of America or its competitions.
AMC-related terms are used only to describe the style and intended preparation level of the App's educational content.
7. No Warranties and Limitation of Liability
7a. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
J.T. Scientific does not warrant that:
- The App will meet your specific study goals
- The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
- The App will contain every topic that may appear on a real competition
- Use of the App will lead to a particular score or result
7b. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, J.T. SCIENTIFIC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.
If liability cannot be fully excluded, J.T. Scientific's total liability for claims relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid for the App or in-app purchases in the 12 months before the claim, or $10.00 USD if you paid nothing.
8. Acceptable Use
- Use the App in violation of applicable law
- Attempt unauthorized access to the App or its local data structures
- Scrape or mass-copy the App's content for republication
- Misrepresent the App as official AMC or MAA material
9. Termination
These Terms remain in effect until terminated. Your rights under these Terms terminate automatically if you materially violate them. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
J.T. Scientific may discontinue the App or its features at any time.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
If a dispute arises, the parties will first attempt to resolve it informally and in good faith. If informal resolution fails, any remaining dispute will be handled in the manner required by applicable law.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
